Part of a bipartisan task force in the state senate working on Sandy recovery, State Sen. David Carlucci’s tour of flooded house may put pressure on insurance companies to do their jobs.
Carlucci toured a Rockland home hit by Superstorm Sandy. The downstairs was flooded, and their Hartford Insurance Company sent them a 10,000 emergency check that went took care of a “hot water heater, boiler and completely rewiring the basement.” Damages to the property are in excess of $65,000 and some of that damage is mold, inevitable from the house being submerged by flood waters. Mold on the basement ceiling may also be under the carpet, and the floor is buckling.
