Flood Today, Mold Tomorrow

Heavy rain saturated the ground Friday in Central Illinois, and is expected to continue through the weekend.

Flood water sweeps up everything in its path, including sewage, contaminants, trash, etc.

Contaminated flood water will leave behind a breeding ground of mold and bacteria; caution should be observed when dealing with residences which have been exposed to contaminated floodwater. Even when the water recedes, the toxins are left behind and should be dealt with. This is why remediation may need to be performed even on buildings which look like they may not have sustained any real damage. And in advance of remediation, it might be a wise thing to have the property tested for mold contamination.
